DESCRIPTION: Your assignment is to present a 4-6 minute persuasive speech designed to get the audience to buy something. It should motivate the audience to act. The topic and speech content must be concrete and involve the selling of an actual item or service. Brand names must be used. The choice of topic should be of interest to the speaker and be a product or service that the audience can afford and is likely to use. The item should not already be in everyone's possession.

Ø TO PRACTICE AND IMPROVE YOUR DELIVERY SKILLS
Ø TO ENCOURAGE THE EFFECTIVE USE OF SENSORY AIDS TO ENHANCE YOUR PRESENTATION
Ø TO ORGANIZE INFORMATION IN A WRITTEN OUTLINE FORM WHICH THE AUDIENCE CAN UNDERSTAND
Ø TO SHARE INFORMATION IN ORDER TO GAIN THE ADHERENCE OF THE AUDIENCE TOWARDS A TOIC OF YOUR CHOICE
Ø TO DECREASE APPREHENSION WHILE SPEAKING
CONTENT: Your coverage of the topic should be in-depth. Present concrete rather than abstract ideas. Feel compelled to cite two outside researched sources to back up your ideas. These sources should be cited orally within the speech.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Turn in a typed outline of your speech which includes the following:
a) Complete sentences
b) Underlined transitions
c) An introduction and conclusion written in paragraph form
d) Identified parts within your introduction: attention getter, credibility, audience adaptation, thesis, and preview.
e)A bibliography with at least two researched sources.
2) Your speech should be 4-6 minutes long. For every minute over or under this limit you will be penalized 5 points.
3) Sensory aids are required. Follow the guidelines that have been presented in class.
4) Use a keyword outline or less during the speech.
5) Do not use the podium.
GRADING: This assignment is worth 125 points. They will be divided accordingly: 10 points for proper outline, 5 points for organization as presented within the speech, 20 points for audience adaptation, 25 points for delivery, 15 points for research, 15 points for credibility, 25 points for proper use of persuasive techniques, and 10 points for your use of sensory aids.
