Andover Central Forensics Tournament Assignment:
Andover Central High School will be hosting their Forensics tournament March 31st. As a student in Forensics, you are required to help out before, during, and after the tournament. This assignment is worth 100 points total.
The tournament will consist of 3 rounds: two preliminary rounds and one final round.
Requirements:
Judging: All novice students are responsible for having 5 slots covered. Advanced students are responsible for having 8 slots covered. Slots will be given as turned in. These judges need to be able to attend a judging workshop before the tournament or set a time with me before the tournament to learn how to judge. The workshop will be held on March 30th. The workshop experience is very important (remember how you feel after having a “bad” judge). Let the judges know that they may or may not be used (we will try to use everyone) and that there will be a hospitality room with food available. There will be a form attached for you to use for judges.
Food: All students are responsible for bringing in food for the hospitality room. We want to keep all judges and coaches happy. For this tournament, each student should bring in one two litre bottles of pop. There will also be a sign-up sheet for other food items. Students must bring in the pop and the food items.
In addition, each student will be assigned tasks to do before, during, and after the tournament. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: timekeeping, ballot running, cleanup, food preparation, room checking, judge upkeep, registration, tabroom assistance, and general gophering.
Finally, tournament hosting is intense. Because of that you need to be on your best behavior. Your coaches need your help, not your grief. Come with a good and patient mood that is ready to help and is tolerant of us, if and when things are not going smoothly.
This assignment is an all or nothing assignment. If you are having difficulty meeting any of these requirements, let me know early. If possible, I will adjust requirements (if I have enough of something or can work out another arrangement with other students).
Andover Central Judge sign-up sheet
Thank you for your assistance. Your willingness to help out at our tournament helps the forensics team at Andover Central High School.
Rounds will be held at Andover Central High School. Please show up for your initial judging assignment 15 minutes in advance. This will allow us to record that you are here and find a round for you to judge. There may be instances when you are not used – hopefully not often. If this happens, please make use of our hospitality room. Do not leave before your scheduled time is up because we will use you later. IF an emergency comes up, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can make arrangements to find another judge. You may reach the coach at her cell phone 259-9861 or at Andover Central High School at 266-8800, ext. 32402.
