For this assignment you are to find, analyze, cut, synthesize, memorize, and deliver an interpretive selection (Your choices are limited to prose, poetry, dramatic interpretation or humorous interpretation, and duo). Requirements in order:
1.Choose a piece that you can fit into the time limit within one minute under (6 minutes for a 7 minute time limit, 9 minutes for a 10 minute time limit). (5 points)
2.For di, hi, and duo you need to memorize your piece completely. For prose or poetry, you need to aim for about a 90 % memorization – and know how to use the scriptbook. (10 points)
3.You need to prepare a teaser and intro for your piece. (10 points)
4.If you have to cut your piece, turn in a copy with cuttings shown. If you are combining multiple selections (poetry), explain the link between the selections. (-10 points if not done)
5.For the analysis, explain the following in a 1-2 page typed paper (30 points):
a. Character:
i. what do they look like?
ii. What do they sound like?
iii. What emotions do they experience within the selection?
b. Piece:
i. What is the climax?
ii. What is the meaning or point?
iii. What is the hardest part of the piece to convey?
iv. Why did you choose this piece or how does it fit you or your abilities?
6.Finally, you will have to deliver the piece to the class following the guidelines set up in your notes. (20 points)
